Cassandra extension

The Cassandra extension, cardigan and top – £4.00

The Cassandra extension pack allows you to use the Cassandra dress pattern to build a wardrobe of wearable garments! The extension pack gives you the additional pieces you need to make both a top and a cardigan with two neckline options, two hemline options and two sleeve lengths. The top and cardigan are fitted at the bust and then gently flared to skim over the tummy and hips.

Please note – this is an extension pack and must be used in conjunction with the Cassandra dress pattern. You can find out more about that here, and you can buy a discounted bundle with the button below.

Recommended fabrics

You can sew Cassandra in many different stretch fabrics: for the sweater or cardigan you could use jacquard or French terry, or to make a lightweight t-shirt style top go for cotton jersey or interlock. For a more formal look you could use stretch crepe or silk jersey, or any other drapey jersey. If you want to make a warmer garment, you could choose a scuba or ponte, but if you make the cardigan version in a thick fabric and you want to wear something underneath, you may wish to size up for comfort.

Other supplies

You will need a small amount of fusible interfacing to cut out your facing pieces of the sweater, and a piece of interfacing about 60-70cm in length to cut out your facing pieces for the cardigan. For the cardigan you will also need 3-4 snap closures, or buttons if you prefer.

Fabric requirements

If you have a plain fabric without a directional print, you may well be able to make your Cassandra with less fabric by turning some pieces upside down.
